It can be easy to let your health and fitness habits slip over the festive season, so here’s our four top tips to keep you fit and healthy over the holidays. Don’t forget to head over to our facebook page to check out all our tips in our videos too! https://www.facebook.com/sanavitahealth/
- Avoid Fasting
If you’re planning a big festive meal, try to avoid the temptation to starve yourself during the day.
It may seem like a good idea to save up your calorie allowance for the evening but this can have negative effects on your health and you’ll feel sluggish and tired during the day, and probably won’t look your best for the big night out!
Also when you do eat, you’re more likely to eat too much all at once, so your body is more likely to store more fat.
We suggest to eat normally during the day, regular meals will keep your metabolism at a healthy level, and you’re more likely to feel and look better and enjoy your night out!
- Be Prepared
During the festive season it’s an easy temptation to stock up on lots of biscuits and cakes, especially if family and friends are visiting.
It’s really simple to make your own sweet treats which are a little bit healthier and still taste great too. Try out this 30minute cinnamon roll recipe!
- Alcohol
Over the festive season there’s lots of opportunities to drink perhaps a little more than we would normally.
We’re not going to insist you go dry for December if you enjoy a drink, but the key is to be a little more aware of what you’re drinking, think moderation rather than excess.
Also, be sure to drink lots of water throughout your evening to avoid dehydration, alcohol is a diuretic, so an evening of drinking only alcoholic drinks can leave you dehydrated and feeling terrible!
- Exercise
With more festive events and catching up with friends in the calendar, it can be easy to let your exercise routine slip, and it can be tempting to leave it all until the new year and just start again.
It doesn’t have to be this way though! If you can’t find the time to hit the gym or go for a run you can still exercise regularly at home, a 20 – 30minute high intensity workout will burn through hundreds of calories and keep you feeling healthier and energised for the day.
